Puddledock
Services Ltd is based at a cottage in Puddledock Lane,
Chartwell in the parish of Crockham |
|
Hill, near
Edenbridge, Kent. The hamlet of Puddledock lies between
Crockham Hill, Toys Hill and Four |
|
Elms and was
originally part of the Chartwell Estate. Winston
Churchill purchased Chartwell in 1922 and |
|
had the
cottage built for Chartwell’s domestic staff, a variety
of whom made the cottage their home including |
|
“Winston
Churchill’s chauffeur”. The National Trust now own and
maintain Chartwell House along with other |
|
properties
and land in the area including
a terrace with a sunken well at the top of Puddledock
Lane in Toys |
|
Hill. The terrace has views across the “Weald of Kent”
and was donated in 1898 by Octavia Hill (one of the |
|
founders of
the National Trust) who lived locally in Crockham Hill,
for many years. |
